UC San Diego partnered with Aira — a company that provides instant access to visual information — to enhance the college experience for people with visual disabilities. The Aira app allows visually impaired faculty, students, staff, patients and visitors to navigate the La Jolla, SIO and Hillcrest campuses more easily. Anyone at UC San Diego can use the Aira app for free,

Aira connects people who are blind or have low vision to a trained professional agent. Agents are dedicated to further enhancing UC San Diego community members’ everyday experience with assistance at the touch of a button.

How to Use Aira

Users must download the app from the App Store or Google Play Store and create a guest account. Ensure that you enable location services for the Aira app.

Getting started as a quest is easy. Whenever you use the Aira app on the UC San Diego campus, you’ll be able to tap the call button located in the center of the screen to connect with an agent at no charge.
