Facilities Management Staff Recognized for Outstanding Work

Two Facilities Management staff members were recently recognized for their outstanding contributions to the UC San Diego campus. Senior custodians Javier Garcia and David Miralles were commended by the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering for their efforts to keep Engineering Building Unit II sparkling. According to the department, 400 students, faculty and staff use the building’s hallways, offices and labs each quarter, but thanks to Garcia and Miralles, the space remains in pristine condition.

In commendation letters for the two custodians, departmental faculty and staff said:

  • “My staff and I feel that Javier is taking the time and effort to ensure that we have a clean and respectable environment to teach our students.”
  • “Since Javier joined the custodial team, Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering has seen significant improvement in the cleanliness of its premises. He is an outstanding employee and has set an example which others are following.”
  • “I could not be happier with David. He truly goes above and beyond typical custodial duties.”
  • “David is the nicest, most cheerful guy, and it is always a pleasure to meet him in the morning. He truly deserves the recognition.”

Garcia and Miralles will receive Certificates of Recognition from the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering at the next Facilities Management Building Services meeting. Congratulations to both on a job well done!
